 American Massage Therapy Association

What to Expect

Before beginning your first session, I will take a brief medical history. You will be invited to bring up any needs that you wish to address in the session. During the session, I invite you to undress to your level of comfort. I will keep you comfortably draped at all times with a sheet. Some clients prefer to wear underwear or loose fitting clothes. Your comfort is fully respected and, in fact, essential for a relaxing session.

I will ask for your feedback as the massage progresses, to assure I am meeting your needs. I do ask that you update me regularly on any new health issues. Massage can be potent “medicine” and certain medical conditions are contraindicated for massage therapy.

My office

  • Conveniently located in Haw Creek, less than 10 minutes from downtown
  • Free off-street parking is available
  • Clients are welcome to shower before or after their session (towels/robes are available)
  • You can choose between massage lotion, unscented massage oils of the highest quality or my own aromatherapy blends
  • I use only 100% cotton linens laundered with biodegradable, fragrance- and dye-free laundry detergent
  • Please call or e-mail for directions to my office

Before and after your massage

  • Don’t eat a large meal right before receiving a massage
  • After the massage, drink LOTS of water to help flush out metabolic waste products that have been released into your system from the massage work
  • Have a hot shower or bath and a good stretch after your massage
  • Give yourself enough time to enjoy the benefits of the massage. Afterwards, you are liable to feel very relaxed and may not want to do anything stressful or strenuous.

Massage studio entrance
